English II:

Our Goals for This Unit:

We are currently studying the ancient Indian folk tale, “Ramayana”. During this unit of study, students are expected to learn:

*The history of ancient India and its basic geography

*The beliefs and class structure of Hinduism

*Basic characters and plot of Ramayana

 *The principles and beliefs of Hinduism as expressed in the Ramayana


Various vocabulary words associated with these lessons will be covered on Mondays as part of our Wild Word Monday, followed by a review throughout the week and a vocabulary quiz on Friday.

Students will also be expected to reenact a portion of the Ramayana in groups, paying close attention to script development, costumes, special effects and plot.
